Attic insulation replacement puts new blown-in insulation into an attic as soon as the old layer is out, bringing it up to R-50 or R-60 in one visit. The bare floor is air sealed first, baffles keep the soffit vents clear, and the new layer goes in level from eave to eave.

Ontario's Home Renovation Savings program pays part of the cost of attic insulation when a participating contractor takes the entire attic to R-50. The program is set to end in November 2026 and could wind up earlier if the money runs out. Its paperwork does not say clearly whether taking the old layer out is an eligible cost.
